Alex Len is the highest ever NBA Draft pick in the history of Ukrainian basketball

Oleksii “Alex” Len was born in the coal mining town of Antratsyt, in Luhansk Oblast. His basketball journey took him to Dnipro, Ukraine and then to the University of Maryland, where he eventually became the 5th pick in the 2013 NBA Draft by the Phoenix Suns.

While in Phoenix, Alex and his mother Yulia Len started the Len-D A Hand Foundation. Alex made it his mission to help and empower under-privileged children in the South Phoenix area and the Len-D A Hand Foundation even earned recognition from the City of Phoenix for its work in the community.

Over his ten year NBA career, Alex has played with five different teams. In 2019, Alex made his debut for the Senior National Team of Ukraine, beating Spain in front of a sold out Ukrainian crowd. Alex plans to represent his country again in the 2022 European Championships.
